What if no driver is available for my date and time?
You'll know quickly. Within our dispatch hours (7 AM–9 PM, Oaxaca time), if our vetted drivers aren't available for your requested slot you'll hear back in about 20 minutes and your deposit hold is released immediately. If you book overnight, your request is held safely and answered first thing the next morning, Oaxaca time. Either way, you're only ever charged once a driver formally accepts your trip — there's zero risk in requesting a slot.
What if I book in the middle of the night?
No problem — book whenever suits you. Our dispatch team and drivers operate on Oaxaca time (GMT-6), roughly 7 AM to 9 PM. If your request arrives overnight, it's queued safely and confirmed first thing the next morning, Oaxaca time — you'll get your confirmation email with your driver's name and WhatsApp number then. Your deposit hold simply stays in place until a driver accepts; you're never charged unless your trip is confirmed. If you're booking close to your travel date, leaving a little extra lead time helps us lock in your driver.
Can I choose my own departure and return times?
Yes — and it's the whole point of going with a private elite service: you're in charge of the schedule. Most families leave around 7:30 AM to beat the heat and the crowds, but the pickup time is yours, and your return is flexible too. You tell your driver when you're ready to head back, instead of racing to catch a shared shuttle.
How do I know the driver is trustworthy?
These aren't random street taxis. MAHC has long-standing relationships with every driver and guide we work with — some we've known for as long as 15 years — and many are reviewed on TripAdvisor. You'll also be in direct WhatsApp contact with your driver before the trip, and your deposit is secured through Stripe.
Why do I pay a deposit now and the balance to the driver directly?
Think of the deposit as a mutual handshake. Our drivers and guides are in high demand, so a small commitment on your side lets them confidently set the date aside for you and turn down other work. It simply reserves your trip — you settle the remaining balance with your driver on the day.
Can you fit my whole family, car seats, or a group of 5+?
Both packages are priced for 1 to 4 passengers in a private vehicle. For a group of 5 or more, child car seats, or any other special request, send a WhatsApp message straight to MAHC with what you need — we'll reply within the hour.
What happens if my driver is late or doesn't show?
If your driver is running late past the time set in your reservation, we discount your trip by 20%. And in the rare event a driver doesn't show — something that hasn't happened to us yet — we'll either arrange a replacement right away (with the same 20% discount) or refund your deposit in full so you can make other arrangements.
Is the Monte Albán entrance fee included in the price?
No — the site entrance fee isn't included in the transportation price. You pay it separately at the entrance to Monte Albán. You can check the current official fee and hours on the INAH Monte Albán page.
Is the Elite guide a real archaeological expert?
The $280 package adds a dedicated guide for an in-depth tour inside the site — a UNESCO World Heritage Site protected by Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). All our guides complete a rigorous certification process administered by the Mexican government before they receive their official license. They're not academic archaeologists — but they know Monte Albán deeply and certainly know what they're talking about.
What's your cancellation and refund policy?
Once a driver accepts your trip and you receive your confirmation email, your deposit is processed and is no longer refundable. If you cancel before a driver has accepted, your deposit hold is released immediately and you're not charged anything.
